General Information‌

The‌ ‌mission‌ ‌of‌ ‌Enrollment‌ ‌Management‌ ‌(EM)‌ ‌is‌ ‌to‌ ‌ systematically review,‌ ‌analyze‌ ‌and‌ ‌assess‌ ‌institutional‌ ‌practices,‌ ‌ procedures,‌ ‌policies‌ ‌and‌ ‌resources‌ ‌in‌ ‌order‌ ‌to‌ ‌improve‌ ‌ matriculation‌ ‌related‌ ‌activities‌ ‌within‌ ‌the‌ ‌college.‌ ‌

Enrollment‌ ‌Management‌ ‌is‌ ‌a‌ ‌systematic,‌ ‌coordinated,‌ ‌ integrated,‌ ‌well-organized,‌ ‌data‌ ‌driven‌ ‌process‌ ‌that‌ ‌ engages‌ ‌students‌ ‌from‌ ‌an‌ ‌admissions‌ ‌prospective‌ ‌stage‌ ‌to‌ ‌ graduation‌ ‌and‌ ‌is‌ ‌focused‌ ‌on‌ ‌creating‌ ‌an‌ ‌environment‌ ‌that‌ ‌ encourages‌ ‌and‌ ‌nurtures‌ ‌student‌ ‌success.‌ ‌ EM‌ ‌work‌ ‌interdependently‌ ‌with‌ ‌others,‌ ‌sharing‌ ‌ information‌ ‌of‌ ‌value‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌institution‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌whole.‌ ‌The‌ ‌ office‌ ‌of‌ ‌EM‌ ‌work‌ ‌with‌ ‌our‌ ‌ colleagues‌ ‌to‌ ‌achieve‌ ‌cohesive,‌ ‌supportive,‌ ‌and‌ ‌seamless‌ ‌ systems‌ ‌for‌ ‌students.‌ ‌

Enrollment‌ ‌Management‌ ‌is‌ ‌overseen‌ ‌by‌ ‌the‌ ‌Senior‌ ‌Vice‌ ‌ President‌ ‌&‌ ‌Chief‌ ‌Operating‌ ‌Officer‌ ‌and‌ ‌works‌ ‌closely‌ ‌and‌ ‌ coordinate‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌following‌ ‌units:‌ ‌Admissions‌ ‌and‌ ‌ Recruitment‌ ‌(Foreign‌ ‌Student‌ ‌and‌ ‌Veterans‌ ‌Affairs),‌ ‌ Financial‌ ‌Aid,‌ ‌Testing‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌Scholarship‌ ‌Office.‌ ‌

Office‌ ‌of‌ ‌Admissions‌ ‌

Medgar Evers College (MEC) offers a unique range of classes that allows students to learn, grow, and explore their interests within a cordial and supportive campus community of distinguished scholars. With more than 20 majors to choose from, students are prepared for careers in fields such as business, health, social services, and education ‌

MEC‌ ‌offers‌ ‌flexible‌ ‌day,‌ ‌evening,‌ ‌and‌ ‌weekend‌ ‌schedules‌ ‌that‌ ‌allow‌ ‌students‌ ‌to‌ ‌work‌ ‌at‌ ‌their‌ ‌own‌ ‌pace‌ ‌to‌ ‌complete‌ ‌their‌ ‌degrees.‌ ‌ Located‌ ‌conveniently‌ ‌in‌ ‌central‌ ‌Brooklyn,‌ ‌Medgar‌ ‌Evers‌ ‌College‌ ‌is‌ ‌easily‌ ‌accessible‌ ‌by‌ ‌public‌ ‌transportation‌ ‌and‌ ‌to‌ ‌cultural,‌ ‌recreational,‌ ‌and‌ ‌entertainment‌ ‌venues.‌

Freshman‌ ‌Applicant‌ ‌

A‌ ‌freshman‌ ‌applicant‌ ‌is‌ ‌a‌ ‌student‌ ‌who‌ ‌has‌ ‌not‌ ‌previously‌ ‌attended‌ ‌any‌ ‌college,‌ ‌university,‌ ‌and/or‌ ‌proprietary‌ ‌school‌ ‌within‌ ‌or‌ ‌outside‌ ‌the‌ ‌United‌ ‌States‌ ‌since‌ ‌graduating‌ ‌from‌ ‌high‌ ‌school,‌ ‌secondary‌ ‌school‌ ‌or‌ ‌received‌ ‌a‌ ‌GED.‌ 

In‌ ‌order‌ ‌to‌ ‌apply‌ ‌to‌ ‌Medgar‌ ‌Evers‌ ‌College‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌freshmen‌ ‌applicant‌ ‌you‌ ‌must‌ ‌meet‌ ‌the‌ ‌following‌ ‌requirements:‌ ‌

Proof‌ ‌of‌ ‌Residency‌ ‌

4.Other‌ ‌Students‌ ‌–‌ ‌Students‌ ‌applying‌ ‌for‌ ‌in-state‌ ‌tuition‌ ‌must‌ ‌complete‌ ‌the‌ ‌CUNY‌ ‌Residency‌ ‌Form‌ ‌and‌ ‌submit‌ ‌the‌ ‌appropriate‌ ‌documentation;‌ ‌must‌ ‌have‌ ‌resided‌ ‌in‌ ‌NYS,‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌intent‌ ‌to‌ ‌stay,‌ ‌for‌ ‌at‌ ‌least‌ ‌1‌ ‌year‌ ‌prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌first‌ ‌day‌ ‌of‌ ‌class‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌semester‌ ‌in‌ ‌which‌ ‌they‌ ‌are‌ ‌applying‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌determination.‌ ‌

SEEK‌ ‌

Search‌ ‌for‌ ‌Education,‌ ‌Elevation,‌ ‌and‌ ‌Knowledge‌ ‌Program‌ ‌provides‌ ‌a‌ ‌limited‌ ‌number‌ ‌of‌ ‌economically‌ ‌and‌ ‌educationally‌ ‌disadvantaged‌ ‌U.S.‌ ‌citizen,‌ ‌U.S.‌ ‌legal‌ ‌permanent‌ ‌resident,‌ ‌asylee,‌ ‌or‌ ‌refugee‌ ‌students‌ ‌with‌ ‌academic‌ ‌services‌ ‌and‌ ‌a‌ ‌stipend‌ ‌to‌ ‌help‌ ‌meet‌ ‌educational‌ ‌costs.‌ ‌Students‌ ‌applying‌ ‌for‌ ‌SEEK‌ ‌admission‌ ‌must‌ ‌complete‌ ‌the‌ ‌appropriate‌ ‌portion‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌CUNY‌ ‌Freshman‌ ‌Application‌ ‌and‌ ‌select‌ ‌the‌ ‌SEEK‌ ‌option.‌ ‌Students‌ ‌who‌ ‌meet‌ ‌financial‌ ‌guidelines‌ ‌and‌ ‌show‌ ‌strong‌ ‌motivation‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌college‌ ‌education‌ ‌are‌ ‌considered‌ ‌for‌ ‌this‌ ‌program.‌ ‌A‌ ‌stipend‌ ‌for‌ ‌educational‌ ‌expenses‌ ‌is‌ ‌awarded‌ ‌to‌ ‌those‌ ‌students‌ ‌who‌ ‌are‌ ‌eligible.‌ 

Credit‌ ‌for‌ ‌Work‌ ‌Completed‌ ‌during‌ ‌High‌ ‌School‌ ‌

Credit‌ ‌for‌ ‌Advanced‌ ‌Placement‌ ‌(AP)‌ ‌examinations‌ ‌with‌ ‌appropriate‌ ‌grades‌ ‌within‌ ‌certain‌ ‌disciplines‌ ‌and‌ ‌for‌ ‌work‌ ‌completed‌ ‌in‌ ‌recognized‌ ‌pre-freshman‌ ‌programs‌ ‌may‌ ‌be‌ ‌considered.‌ ‌

Effective‌ ‌Fall‌ ‌2013,‌ ‌students‌ ‌who‌ ‌have‌ ‌earned‌ ‌a‌ ‌City‌ ‌University‌ ‌Associate‌ ‌in‌ ‌Arts‌ ‌(A.A.)‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌Associate‌ ‌in‌ ‌Science‌ ‌(A.S.)‌ ‌degree‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌deemed‌ ‌to‌ ‌have‌ ‌automatically‌ ‌fulfilled‌ ‌the‌ ‌lower‌ ‌division‌ ‌liberal‌ ‌arts‌ ‌and‌ ‌science‌ ‌distribution‌ ‌requirements‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌baccalaureate‌ ‌degree.‌ ‌However,‌ ‌students‌ ‌may‌ ‌be‌ ‌asked‌ ‌to‌ ‌complete‌ ‌a‌ ‌course‌ ‌in‌ ‌a‌ ‌discipline‌ ‌required‌ ‌by‌ ‌a‌ ‌senior‌ ‌college’s‌ ‌baccalaureate‌ ‌distribution‌ ‌requirements‌ ‌that‌ ‌was‌ ‌not‌ ‌part‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌student’s‌ ‌associate‌ ‌degree‌ ‌program.‌ ‌In‌ ‌such‌ ‌cases‌ ‌all‌ ‌coursework‌ ‌required‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌applied‌ ‌towards‌ ‌the‌ ‌total‌ ‌number‌ ‌of‌ ‌credits‌ ‌normally‌ ‌required‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌baccalaureate‌ ‌degree‌ ‌(see‌ ‌note‌ ‌c).‌ ‌

An‌ ‌individual‌ ‌may‌ ‌attend‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌non-degree‌ ‌student‌ ‌or‌ ‌permit‌ ‌(visiting)‌ ‌student‌ ‌if‌ ‌they‌ ‌wish‌ ‌to‌ ‌take‌ ‌credit‌ ‌bearing‌ ‌courses‌ ‌but‌ ‌are‌ ‌not‌ ‌working‌ ‌toward‌ ‌a‌ ‌degree.‌ ‌These‌ ‌students‌ ‌are‌ ‌limited‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ ‌maximum‌ ‌of‌ ‌fifteen‌ ‌(15)‌ ‌credits.‌ ‌All‌ ‌applicants‌ ‌must‌ ‌fulfill‌ ‌CUNY‌ ‌and‌ ‌College-‌ ‌wide‌ ‌requirements‌ ‌by‌ ‌meeting‌ ‌appropriate‌ ‌basic‌ ‌skills‌ ‌proficiency‌ ‌in‌ ‌reading,‌ ‌writing‌ ‌and‌ ‌mathematics.‌ ‌Non-degree‌ ‌students‌ ‌may‌ ‌only‌ ‌register‌ ‌for‌ ‌courses‌ ‌for‌ ‌which‌ ‌they‌ ‌have‌ ‌the‌ ‌prerequisites.‌ ‌Applicants‌ ‌must‌ ‌complete‌ ‌pre-requisite‌ ‌and‌ ‌co-requisite‌ ‌courses‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌passing‌ ‌grade‌ ‌before‌ ‌enrolling‌ ‌in‌ ‌college‌ ‌level‌ ‌or‌ ‌advanced‌ ‌level‌ ‌courses.‌ ‌Permit‌ ‌students‌ ‌and‌ ‌baccalaureate‌ ‌degree‌ ‌holders‌ ‌are‌ ‌exempted‌ ‌from‌ ‌taking‌ ‌the‌ ‌placement‌ ‌examination.‌ ‌Applications‌ ‌may‌ ‌Office‌ ‌of‌ ‌Enrollment‌ ‌Management‌ ‌be‌ ‌obtained‌ ‌in‌ ‌person‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌Office‌ ‌of‌ ‌Admission‌ ‌&‌ ‌Recruitment,‌ ‌or‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌website‌‌ ‌www.mec.cuny.edu/admission.‌ ‌Students‌ ‌must‌ ‌submit‌ ‌copies‌ ‌of‌ ‌their‌ ‌college‌ ‌transcripts‌ ‌and‌ ‌proof‌ ‌of‌ ‌having‌ ‌paid‌ ‌the‌ ‌application‌ ‌fee‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌time‌ ‌of‌ ‌application‌ ‌submission.‌ ‌Permit‌ ‌students‌ ‌from‌ ‌colleges‌ ‌outside‌ ‌the‌ ‌CUNY‌ ‌system‌ ‌should‌ ‌obtain‌ ‌a‌ ‌non-degree‌ ‌application‌ ‌and‌ ‌follow‌ ‌the‌ ‌instructions.‌ ‌Currently‌ ‌enrolled‌ ‌CUNY‌ ‌students‌ ‌should‌ ‌file‌ ‌e-permit‌ ‌applications‌ ‌via‌ ‌their‌ ‌CUNY‌ ‌Portal‌ ‌accounts.‌ ‌Applicants‌ ‌must‌ ‌check‌ ‌the‌ ‌college’s‌ ‌Academic‌ ‌Calendar‌ ‌for‌ ‌application‌ ‌deadline‌ ‌dates‌ ‌and‌ ‌course‌ ‌registration‌ ‌dates.‌ ‌

 ‌Senior‌ ‌Citizens‌ ‌

Bona‌ ‌fide‌ ‌New‌ ‌York‌ ‌residents‌ ‌60‌ ‌years‌ ‌of‌ ‌age‌ ‌and‌ ‌older‌ ‌and‌ ‌who‌ ‌have‌ ‌completed‌ ‌high‌ ‌school‌ ‌are‌ ‌permitted‌ ‌to‌ ‌register‌ ‌for‌ ‌undergraduate‌ ‌courses‌ ‌on‌ ‌an‌ ‌audit‌ ‌basis‌ ‌as‌ ‌non-degree‌ ‌students‌ ‌on‌ ‌a‌ ‌space-available‌ ‌basis‌ ‌for‌ ‌$80‌ ‌per‌ ‌semester‌ ‌(a‌ ‌$65‌ ‌application‌ ‌fee‌ ‌and‌ ‌a‌ ‌$15‌ ‌Comprehensive‌ ‌Fee).‌ ‌These‌ ‌students‌ ‌are‌ ‌exempt‌ ‌from‌ ‌all‌ ‌other‌ ‌fees‌ ‌and‌ ‌charges.‌ ‌

Former‌ ‌students‌ ‌who‌ ‌were‌ ‌dismissed‌ ‌for‌ ‌academic‌ ‌reasons‌ ‌must‌ ‌apply‌ ‌for‌ ‌reinstatement‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌appropriate‌ ‌Committee‌ ‌on‌ ‌Academic‌ ‌Standing‌ ‌before‌ ‌a‌ ‌readmission‌ ‌decision‌ ‌can‌ ‌be‌ ‌made.‌ ‌Students‌ ‌who‌ ‌attended‌ ‌other‌ ‌colleges‌ ‌or‌ ‌universities‌ ‌after‌ ‌leaving‌ ‌Medgar‌ ‌Evers‌ ‌College‌ ‌should‌ ‌file‌ ‌a‌ ‌readmission‌ ‌application‌ ‌prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌returning‌ ‌to‌ ‌Medgar‌ ‌Evers‌ ‌College‌ ‌rather‌ ‌than‌ ‌a‌ ‌transfer‌ ‌application.‌ ‌Students‌ ‌not‌ ‌in‌ ‌continuous‌ ‌attendance‌ ‌are‌ ‌subject‌ ‌to‌ ‌any‌ ‌new‌ ‌curriculum‌ ‌requirements‌ ‌in‌ ‌effect‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌date‌ ‌of‌ ‌reentry.‌
